Free Group Ride
Hood Canal Loop
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
You are invited to a 200K loop around Hood Canal using the RUSA permanent route. This is a beautiful ride with water to one side and mountains on the other. We will catch the 6:10 Bainbridge ferry, ride to Chimacum and around the canal CCW to Belfair then on to Bremerton where we catch the next ferry back to Seattle. Scheduled food stops are the Chimacum Farm Stand and Hood Canal Grocery in Hoodsport or as otherwise determined to be appropriate.
This ride is for strong cyclists with a solid foundation of miles under their belt. The ride is posted at a strenuous pace (20-22 mph on the flats), faster or slower riders are welcome to join, but should be prepared to ride on their own. Bring money for ferry fare (westbound only) and food. Bring tubes/air and tools to handle your mechanicals should you have any. A bright red flashy light is strongly suggested since we will be sharing the road with fast moving traffic; however, we do enjoy a fairly wide shoulder for most of the route.
Be at the Coleman Dock by 6:00 for the 6:10 sailing. We will group up upstairs in the cabin near the front of the boat make sure everyone is signed in and cover the SMART briefing. This ride is hosted by a member of Cascade's High Performance Cycling Team.
