Join us for a beautiful challenging loop around the south half of Whidbey Island on mostly quiet roads.   We will be riding cooperatively as a group while maintaining a strenuous effort level throughout the ride.  If showers and/or wet weather is anticipated, please mount fenders on your bike with a buddy flap.  
Every rider is expected to sustain and complete the route at the advertised pace. Please bring a cue sheet and/or upload the route information onto your GPS device. Ride with GPS link is below.  Please also have tubes and tools and to be able to fix a flat and other minor mechanicals.  There are several planned stops for bathroom breaks and/or food water, but please bring other snacks and water for the first leg of the route.
Start point:  We will be taking the 8:30 ferry from Mukilteo to Clinton ($6 fee round trip).  Please plan to arrive at the ferry terminal at least 15 minutes in advance to purchase your fare.

Parking:  Free parking is available at Olympic View Middle School about 1 mile away from the ferry terminal.   Please park in the spots away from the school, closest to the road.  See MAP.   Please park here and ride your bike down to the terminal.   Please use the meetup link/discussion to coordinate carpooling.

Registration: Please pre-register & sign e-waiver (register button right below the ride title).  

Cancellation: In addition to predictions of steady rain, any other hazardous conditions will cancel a ride. If a ride is cancelled due to weather and hazardous conditions, it will be posted here in the comment section 2 hours prior to the start time.

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
