Get on Your Bike, A Social Ride for Newer and Returning Cyclists
Event has already happened.
Been off the bike for a while? Bought a bike and not yet comfortable riding? Is now the time when you want to take advantage of nicer weather to get riding for health, fitness or just fun? Here is your opportunity to develop your skills, become more familiar with your bike and start to become accustomed to riding in a group on a variety of trails and bike lanes.
This is a social ride with experienced ride leaders to help you get into biking or just to gain more experience. The route consists of trails and bike lanes on a variety of terrain. It includes some hills so that you can use your gears and develop skills riding up hill. Everyone can ride the hills at their own pace and we always regroup at the top and before any turns so you need not be concerned about being left behind.
You are expected to have a basic fitness level to be able to ride at 10 – 12 mph on flat ground and to have a bike that is ridable. At the start of the ride we will help you check out your bike and discuss bike riding skills and how to ride in a group
Route - We will start and finish at the Chainline Brewing Company in Kirkland, next door to the new Google Campus and near Cross Kirkland Corridor. The route takes us south to the 520 trail and up to the Evergreen Point overlook of the new 520 bridge. The trail involves climbing some hill but it is a wide trail and if it gets to be too hard, it is walkable. We will take a short loop thru Bellevue and Medina back to Kirkland for the return to the start. After the ride, join us at the brewery for refreshments and more conversation about biking. Please download the route or print the cue sheet.
We will not have a food stop on the route but there will be a water/restroom stops along the way with time to eat whatever snacks you bring.
Parking - Please park at the south end of the parking lot.
Ride Registration - Arrive at least 20 minutes before ride start to get ready to ride and sign the waiver. You may register online to avoid having to sign at start.
There are no restrooms at the start but we will stop at Everest Park in the first half mile.
