Free Group Ride
Issaquah to Carnation loop via Sammamish & Union Hill
Event has already happened.
A Memorial Day ride out to Carnation if you're not out climbing the Seven Hills of Kirkland!
The ride starts in Issaquah at Tibbets Valley Park off 12th Ave (Note that this is NOT the Park & Ride, which is nearby). There are restrooms at the start.
We will head up to the Sammamish plateau using the bike trail - that will get you warmed up! After the climb, we’ll head slightly north and then towards Issaquah Fall City Road all the way to Fall City. Once we cross over SR202 we will take the very scenic (and flat) W Snoqualmie River Road towards Carnation. There will be a rest stop in Carnation at Starbucks - there are other options nearby.
The route back will take us on more rural roads towards Ames Lake, then the climbing starts up Union Hill Road into Redmond. Finally, we will take East Lake Sammamish Parkway for some scenic lake views and hopefully plenty of sunshine!
Pace: We will ride within the posted pace on the flats with an equivalent effort up hills. We will regroup at the top of significant climbs. If you plan to ride faster or slower, please come prepared to ride on your own so that the group does not have long wait times. Please print out the Cue Sheet and bring this with you.
Regroups/Mechanicals: This will be a social ride with waits at the top of significant hills and all major turns along the way. We will not stop for major mechanical issues. Please come prepared the necessary equipment you need to take care of flats or other problems on your own. Please print a cue sheet from the route link in the event that you get separated from the group.
Rest Stops: There are restrooms at the start. The stop at Carnation is at mile 16. If required we can make a stop at Marymoor Park before heading down East Lake Sammamish Parkway.
Cancellation Policy: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location.
Please make sure to arrive at least 20 minutes before the ride start so you can get prepared to roll out at the posted time, sign a waiver if you haven't pre-registered, and hear the ride briefing. As is required with all Cascade rides, please ensure you wear a helmet and come prepared with gear that is comfortable and appropriate for the distance/elevation.
