Critical Lass Celebrates Spring!
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
So long, winter! Hellooooooo, spring!
Keep an eye on the @uwcherryblossom Twitter to monitor the status of the bloom as their timing depends on the weather, but we’re meeting here rain or shine, bloom or bust! We’ll traipse around the trees starting at 10:30 a.m., taking photos and dinging our bike bells at blushing brides (ooh, maybe we should make bingo cards for common sights during cherry blossom time at the Quad: wedding parties, musicians in trees, unicycles, dogs in costumes…).
At 11:00 a.m. we’ll set off for PUBLIC Bikes on Capitol Hill (501 E Pine Street, Seattle, WA 98122) via our favorite route through the I-5 Colonnade and Melrose Promenade. It’s 4.1 miles, here’s the route.
At PUBLIC we’ll ooh and aah at the pretty bikes (especially those in springy colors) and see tons of great gear and accessories. And we’ll enjoy pastries and refreshments courtesy of PUBLIC!
Fun fact: PUBLIC is in the space that used to house Black Coffee Co-op. Critical Lass biked here two years ago after checking out the Broadway Cycle Track when it was brand new! Lots of photos of our route in the recap post.
Note: this is a one-way ride, but we can coordinate groups heading back if you want to go back to the Quad, or check with the ride leader for route advice to any other destination in Seattle.
If you drive to the start, paid parking is available in the campus lots or on University District streets. Free parking can be found on streets north of campus, though not very close by.
About Critical Lass
Our aim is to get more Seattle women biking and we encourage both new and experienced riders to come along. We don’t want to create any barriers to your getting out there so if you need to bring kids or friend who does not qualify as a “lass” along, please do so! We ask that children be bike-ily attached to parent or guardian (trailer, bike seat, trail-a-bike, tandem bike, you get the drift…). Read more about Critical Lass.
