Ride with the Cascade Board

Join us for a ride with members of the Cascade Board!

This ride is a fun ride - meant as an opportunity for riders to join us for the activity we love the most - cycling! We will do these rides quarterly (as interest permits) with varying start locations.

Route: This quarter's ride will start from Maple Valley Market - back of the market near the Cedar River Coffee Shop. This route keeps us off the busy roads and gives us a variety of scenery. It crosses the Cedar River and the Green River two times.  The most notable crossing is the Green River Gorge Bridge that is a couple of hundred feet above the river below.  We will go by the Black Diamond Bakery at about mile 25.  We will stop in Ravensdale twice as needed to use the restrooms heading south toward Black Diamond and again heading north as we head back to Maple Valley.  

Pace: Moderate. All riders are welcome to join, but should be able to sustain a 14-15 mph pace on flats and be comfortable on steady-grade hills. Minors are only allowed with advance permission. NO pets allowed. 

Pace/Regroup: We will ride as a group in a relaxed, social pace -- likely at the low end of the pacegroup or as riders are comfortable. We'll regroup at the tops of hills but we will not wait for mechanical issues or flats. Please ensure your bike is in good working order before joining and come prepared with the requisite tools/knowledge to fix flats/minor mechanicals. Spare tube/tire irons/pump or CO2/allen tools are recommended. We do not stop the group for mechanicals. 

Requirements: Helmets are required. No exceptions. Fenders are also required if the roads are wet or there is any chance of rain. Please arive 20 minutes early in order to sign the liability release and hear the safety briefing. 

Rain cancellation: Steady rain at the ride start will cancel. Please check back to this posting or Meetup for weather cancellation which will occur an hour before the ride start. In the event of steady rain, ride leaders will not be at the ride start. 

IMPORTANT: There are no public bathrooms at the ride start but bathrooms are available at the market (with purchase of food). Please plan accordingly. Those traveling from Seattle might consider stopping in Renton prior to the ride start or arriving early to ensure time to use establishments nearby.

Please RSVP: Please REGISTER via the link above before the ride (registration is free). RSVPs on Meetup (link below) are also very helpful and encouraged, but not required. Meetup is an excellent tool for posting pictures and facilitating social connections. RSVP via Cascade is also great and will prevent you from having to sign a paper waiver.
