Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
On Green Friday get out and explore East King County Gravel (EKG).
Riding out of Nick Loutsis Park in Carnation. Our route takes us into the back country up against the foothills--we will not have to worry about traffic out here. Our pace will vary as gravel roads are rarely actually flat, but we will try to keep the effort level at vigorous. Climb at your own pace, we will regroup at the top. We will regroup frequently. There is also an optional 3 mile, 700' out-n-back climb (6 mi r/t) to Drunken Charlie Lake that can be self paced, slower riders can turn around when the faster riders pass them going down.
We will be on a variety of surfaces including paved roads, gravel roads, primitive gravel roads, single track and jeep track.
Only 7 miles are paved, so make sure you have proper equipment for the conditions. A cross, hardtail mtn bike or hybrid bike with 32mm tires or larger should be sufficient to negotiate this route. However, a gravel grinder with 38's is ideal. GPS navagation tool is strongly reccommended. We will be remote and no where near civilization, so be self sufficient. Bring enough fluids and food to sustain you. Bring at least two tubes, some way to repair a sidewall, and plenty of air. Your phone may not recieve service out there. Plan accordingly. If you have questions about what to pack feel free to inquire.
Please arrive early to sign the waiver and be ready to roll at 900. It gets dark a little after 400 pm, so we have to keep on schedule. Cancellation Policy: weather is always a factor in the foothills. Be aware of the forcast and dress appropriately. We will ride in showers, but steady rain or low level snow cancells. I will make the call in the morning before leaving for the start, or possibly the night before. I will try to have the finalized route posted the night before.
