Please see the description below for the regular Eastside Evening Ride
Backup Holiday Light Ride Description
Come ride with the Eastside Tours folks as we take in the holiday lights of East Bellevue! A holiday tradition since 2010 or so!
The weather in early December can be fickle, so the scheduling is a bit complicated. The ride will be held twice, and each ride will have a backup date if we don't ride on the first date.
Ride #1: Tuesday Dec 1st, Backup Thursday Dec 3rd.
Ride #2: Tuesday Dec 8th, Backup Thursday Dec 10th.
The route is 22.5 miles with 1365' of climbing. It is fairly hilly. This is a "stay together" ride; we will regroup at the top of all hills. The route will be set to take in the best of the lights and - in Eastside Tours Tradition - is not published.
Note to regulars: This ride will be done at a moderate pace instead of our usual brisk pace, so it will be a bit slower, and you will want to bundle up a bit more than usual. There are a couple of sections where I will turn the faster riders loose to stretch their legs.
Lights are required. It can get pretty dark in some of these neighborhoods, so bright lights are recommended. Holiday lights on bikes and/or riders are encouraged; please keep safety in mind.
Showers cancel. It's often hard to tell what the riding weather will be like this time of year, so the official cancellation time is 5:30PM of the day of the ride. I will post a cancellation by that time in the comments for this ride; I will also post it in the meetup for the ride and in the Eastside Tours Facebook group.
Eastside Evening Tours Description
Join us for our 17th year of evening rides as we explore the Eastside. Our goal is safe, interesting, and challenging brisk rides. Our routes change from night to night; we might be on the Sammamish plateau one night, in Juanita the next, and in Medina the night after that.
Our goal pace on the flats is 17MPH.
We like hills. An average ride will climb 1500 feet during the ride. Hills are climbed at your own pace and we regroup at the top of all hills.
If the weather is marginal, the ride leader will make a go/no-go decision at 5:30PM. Cancellations will be posted in the comments for the ride and on the Eastside Tours facebook page.
Please see website for more details before attending. Lights required!
Note our move to our winter location at the Overlake Transit Center.
