Free Group Ride
Ravenna / Golden Gardens Relaxed
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join my 9-year-old and I for a relaxed ride through the paths and roads of Seattle. We ride the Burke Gilman trail to Ravenna Park, then to Green Lake, through the city to Golden Gardens Park, and finally back on the Burke Gilman. This is generally flat, with a few short hills of 1/2 mile or less, at which point walking your bike is totally fine. In addition, there is one long winding downhill as we arrive at the beach.
We will stop every 5 miles for roughly 30-45 minutes. The kids can play, while the adults can have a coffee or work on their knitting. Please see the route information below for precise locations of rest stops.
Everyone will ride together the whole time. No one will be "dropped" by the group. Still, we do ask that you come prepared with the tools and knowledge to fix flats or minor mechanical issues. Please have a backup plan in case something goes wrong, and you need to call for a ride.
Children of all ages are absolutely welcome, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Those who wish to ride on their own bike must be at least 8 years old and comfortable with riding on streets.
We will ride in dry conditions only. If it rains, the ride will be cancelled. Check back here the morning of the ride for weather updates.
