Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Answer the call to ride and join the Seattle Cycle Sirens for our first FREE Clinic-and-a-ride! This is part of the SCS's effort to host women-friendly training rides this summer to help riders prepare for group ride events like Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere), Bike-n-Brews El Norte, Kitsap Color Classic and more.
The clinic will start at 9:00 a.m. at the parking lot of PostDoc Brewing Company, located just outside of Marymoor Park East Entrance. The proprieters of PostDoc Brewing Company have kindly agreed to let us use their parking lot for this event. We will spend about 45 minutes covering topics like pre-ride bike checks, road riding basics and group riding etiquette. After that, we will go for a ride! If you decide that you're not quite ready for a loop around Lake Sammamish at the Moderate pace, then this second option (which is great for newer cyclists) is to ride to Woodinville and then tackle a small hill upon our return to Remond. This route option is 19.6 miles at a STEADY pace on mostly flat terrain, and we'll be on both the trail and some roads.
The Ride Leader for this route will be leading a STEADY paced ride (12-14 mph on the flats with no headwinds or tailwinds). Those who wish to ride at a faster pace are welcome to do so, but it will then become a self-paced ride for them. Slower riders are also welcome to take the route at their own pace as this is a NO-DROP ride and we will regroup as needed along the way.
The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. and the ride will begin at 9:45 a.m., so please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to ready your bike, sign the waiver and participate in the SMART safety briefing. Feel free to join us for a refreshing drink back at PostDoc after the ride to talk about our day's accomplishments and future cycling goals!
Riders are expected to have the following with them: water, a spare tube, a pump and other tools to change a flat tire.
