Midweek Outdoor Riding in the Evening (MORE) Hills on Wednesdays - N Seattle
Event has already happened.
Why ride indoors? Skip spin class and join us for a Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening (MORE) ride! Wednesday rides will be about 20 miles with steep hills, Thursday rides will be less than 20 miles with fewer hills. It is a perfect way to add a little training for otherwise weekend riders without spending too much time. We hope to offer multiple paces on both days when we can. The start locations will be in North Seattle (Lower Woodland Park, Matthews Beach, View Ridge, etc.). We will ride on urban Seattle/Shoreline streets as well as some trails.
We will regroup at top of every hill for a reasonable time, but if you are too fast/slow for the majority, it will become self-paced. Stops will be brief. If you are struggling to sustain the advertised pace after climbing hills, the ride leaders will make sure you have a cue sheet and feel comfortable to finish the ride. We want everyone to ride hard but to have fun and get back safely.
It’s nice to bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat as always. Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case of unforeseen holdups.
We will be rolling promptly at 6:00pm, so please arrive with enough time to get ready to ride, sign the waiver and listen attentively to the safety speech before then.
This week's route takes you up to the top of Queen Ann from north end. We will ride around QA then head to Magnolia to climb Thorndyke Ave/Magnolia Blvd toward Discovery Park. We will walk through Ballard Locks and climb the last hill up to Woodland Zoo. The route is filled with scenic views AND hills. ALL willing hill climbers with good attitude about them are welcome :-). Please note: this week's MORE Hills is a very hilly route with several steep hills.
There is no scheduled stop en route, but we can stop to refill bottles as necessary. 6 pm is a roll out time, so please be at the start, ready to ride no later than 5:45.
