Free Group Ride
Fellowship of the Road #2 (Carnation)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for an Eastside-CATS-related paceline practice and recovery ride. We will practice paceline skills in a safe environment, riding smoothly, at a well modulated pace. Group cohesiveness will remain a high priority during the entire ride. In that spirit, we will stop for flats or mechanicals (within reason!). Expect some instruction.
While conceived a complement to the CATS rides, this ride is open to all riders--anyone looking to improve or learn about paceline skills.
Worried about tired legs after a heavy duty Saturday ride? Come see how working with others in a steady, smooth paceline ride can allow for the best sort of recovery! In addition, the route has a mostly flat ride profile.
We've listed the ride as Vigorous but encourage Brisk and Strenuous riders to attend. When riding in a slip stream, Brisk riders can keep up and Strenuous riders can chill and enjoy the rhythm of a well oiled group effort. The emphasis will remain on the group and riding in a cooperative, non-competitive manner.
Depending on turn out we will break up into groups composed of 6-10 riders.
Requirements: Bring two spare tubes, a pump and whatever tools you may need to manage any mishaps you may encounter. Fenders required if there is any chance of rain. Strictly enforced.
Route: This week we start in Carnation and do a 30-mile loop up north, rolling through Duvall, and then an out-and-back loop south to Fall City. Those who need to get home early for Mother's Day can cut the ride short at the 30-mile mark. Route: www.strava.com/routes/2274612
Ride Start: You must show up early enough to hear the route briefing and safety notes. We will begin the briefing 10 minutes before the start of the ride.
Rest stop: At mile 30, Carnation Cafe, coffee and snack stop offering a moment to socialize. No formal lunch stop so bring bars or whatever else you need to complete the ride.
Ride Leaders: Timothy McCarthy, Bob Dennis, Paula Froke
