Ride to the Bike Swap and Back

This is a Moderate paced ride leaving from Federal Way and taking some less traveled routes down to Tacoma to visit the 7th Annual Tacoma Bike Swap on the University of Puget Sound campus.  We will be leaving at 9 AM sharp.  It will take roughly 90-120 minutes to get to the campus.  We will take a long enough stop at the Bike Swap for everyone to get a chance to check out the booths.  Bring snacks and beverages, though there may be food vendors at the bike swap.  Plan to bring cash and if you wish to buy anything at the fair, bring a pack capable of carrying it out.  

This is a no-drop ride and we will be regrouping as necessary and after hills.  There are a few long hills, but all are managable.

Please RSVP at Cascade Meetup, this helps us determine the appropriate number of ride leaders. Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start time to hear the route briefing, safety presentation, and sign the waiver form for an on-time departure.

Mechanicals/Pace: Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace for the group, know how to read a cue sheet, change a flat tire (and have the requisite equipment to do so) and have a positive attitude. Ride Leaders and Sweeps will not stop long for flats or mechanical issues due to group safety. Faster riders are welcome to join but for them the ride becomes self-guided.

Cue Sheets: Please print your own cue sheet, cue sheets will not be available at start. The final route and cue sheet will be available on Cascade.org and Meetup.com. Bathrooms are available at the start and at the mid point.

Equipment: A good headlight and taillight recommended. Long fenders are required for a chance of rain above 0%. Helmets are required to ride.

Regroup policy: We will ride with the best interest of the group in mind. We will regroup at the top of hills for a reasonable amount of time as well as at major turns. Stops will be brief.  We want everyone to have fun and get back safely. Please print your contact information clearly on the waiver form in case we need to reach you for any reason. This is especially true in case of emergency. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian and have permission of the ride director prior to the start.

Cancellation Policy: Showers Cancel.  If the ride is cancelled, I will post notification of cancellation at the MeetUp site by 7 AM.  I will not be at the start if the ride is cancelled.

There will be a well-qualified minor on the ride who will be close to the ride leader at all times.
