Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening (MORE) - N Seattle
Event has already happened.
Why ride indoors? Skip spin class and join us for a Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening (MORE) ride! Wednesday rides will be about 20 miles with some hills, Thursday rides will be less than 20 miles with fewer hills. It is a perfect way to add a little training for otherwise weekend riders without spending too much time.
The start locations will be in North Seattle (Lower Woodland Park, Matthews Beach, View Ridge, etc.). We will ride on urban Seattle/Shoreline streets as well as some trails. We will regroup at top of every hill for a reasonable time, but if you are too fast/slow for the majority, it will become self-paced. It’s nice to bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat as always. Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case.
Where: This week's MORE ride starts at Lower Woodland Park. We will head north & west to Sunset Hill making a CCW loop around Ballard, crossing the locks and riding around South Lake Union crossing University bridge to finish on the BGT and Stone Way.
There will be a photo op at Sunset Hill and an opportunity for fluid exchange at the locks..
When: We will be rolling promptly at 6:00pm, but please arrive with enough time to get ready to ride, sign the waiver and listen attentively to the safety speech before then.
Please note, sunset is 7:45pm on this day, so bring front and rear lights! We should get back around sunset but riders should be prepared in case we get delayed, or they suffer mechanicals. Riders who do not have lights may be turned away, for safety.
Riders should be able to sustain a pace of 14-16 on flats, although we'll be riding the upper end of that. We will be riding on a mix of quiet neighborhood roads, and busy multiple lane roads, so if you have limited experience riding with traffic, be sure to let the ride leader know.
Riders should also know how to read a cue sheet, change a flat (and have the requisite equipment), and have a positive attitude! Please print a cue sheet and bring it with you. We will not be stopping to wait for mechanical failures so having a cue sheet is strongly recommended.
