'Twas the night of Sumner bike riding

Join us for a leisurely flat social ride for families as we ride around Sumner looking at Christmas lights. Children must be accompanied by a parent, no exceptions. We will leave from the Sumner Fred Meyer (meet next to the Garden Center). Ride should last approx. between 60 - 90 minutes. Mileage is an approx. as we will be meandering around the residential streets.

A Christmas poem: ‘Twas a night of bike riding on all the side streets, a Christmas ride lit up, so pretty, so sweet; The lights were all hung from the houses with care, in hopes that St. Rick would soon lead them there. The children were nestled all snug near their Schwinn’s, while visions of hand signals danced thru their heads; With Mama in her skort, and I in my helmet, we had just settled gears for a long downhill plummet, When out on the road there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bike to see what was the matter. Away to the curb, I flew with great speed; I tore off my helmet and uncleated my feet. The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow, shone the luster of bikes, red, blue and gold. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a peloton at Starbucks with eight riders in gear. With a brave, young leader, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment that it must be St. Rick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, he whistled, shouted, and called them by name: “Rolling Tim, Shawn, Karen and Dave! Onward, Jonathan and Jeanette, Now! Sue and Barb! Patty and Tina, to the end of street, keep to the right and pedal with glee!” As they went off into the night it could heard “Merry Christmas my friends, now pedal away! Pedal away! Pedal away all!”
