TOUR DE SEATTLE (IX)
A ride around and thru Seattle to iconic sights and places: Green Lake, The Troll, Statue of Lenin, Fremont ("Center of the Known Universe"), Ballard Locks, Elliott Bay, Seattle Center, International District and others. This is a good chance to get a sense of the layout of the city, especially if you're new to Seattle or just think of it as exits off of I-5.
Meet in front of the old Cascade Bicycle Club Office; turn right at the entrance on 74th Street. Outhouses available down the hill.
It is required at the Ballard Locks to walk our bikes across (about 1/4 mile); so be sure you can safely walk in your bike shoes. There are two longer hills before lunch, and the rest aren't too bad. Lunch at Seattle Center Food Court, and since bikes must remain outside, bike locks are very recommended.
We will ride on the improved Second Avenue Bike Lane thru town. The route overall may vary slightly depending on traffic and weather. We regroup at the tops of hills or as needed for safety or to try to keep everybody on the ride.
If unsure of the weather, call the leader on his cell, 425.273.4156 after 8 a.m. on the morning of the ride and/or check back here.
