WOMEN RIDE: Cycle the WAVE Social Ride, Ready to Ride Clinic & Wine-Tasting! (Brisk)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere) is an all-women charity cycling experience that raises awareness and critical funds for domestic violence programs in Washington State. The 7th Annual Cycle the WAVE will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2014, starting at Bellevue College.
The CtW Ride Event Team has partnered with Cascade Bicycle Club to host this event. Ride Event Team Members will be present at this gathering to tell you all you need to know about the Ride, how to prepare for it and what to expect on Ride Day.
We will start with a social ride in Woodinville followed by a Ready to Ride Presentation at Sol Stone Wine Tasting Room. Refreshments, wine-tasting and light snacks would be available after the ride. Under-21 participants are welcome but ID is required for wine-tasting and purchase.
Representatives of Woodinville Bicycle Shop, one of the Women-Friendly Bike Shops that has partnered with CtW, will be available prior to the ride to help with basic pre-ride mechanical check (tire pressure, saddle height etc.).
The ride will begin at 5:30 p.m. so please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to ready your bike, sign the waiver and participate in the SMART safety briefing. (Earlier if you would like your bike checked by a bike shop representative).
The following paces will be offered: Leisurely, Steady, Moderate, and Brisk. All paces will use a common route except for leisurely. While on the trail we will ride below a Brisk pace.
Riders are expected to have the following with them: water, a spare tube, a pump and other tools to change a flat tire. A red blinking tail light and a white front light are highly recommended.
The ride will be cancelled if there is steady rain, but the Ready to Ride Clinic and wine-tasting portion of the event will take place as planned regardless of the weather situation.
RSVPs are not required, but highly encouraged so that we can get a head count for the event. Please use the Meetup link below.
