CTS Rides Again #4 -Magnuson – Sultan Loop (Moderate)
Event has already happened.
CTS Rides Again is a series of five Sunday rides (July 13, 20, 27, and August 3 and 10) following the conclusion of 2014 CTS series to help riders prepare for the RSVP, RAW, and other challenging rides. This is the fourth ride of the series. We have chosen five of the best rides from the Cascade Training Series (CTS) series to ride again. We will have ride leaders for four different paces(Red/Leisurely, 10-12 mph on flats; Yellow/Steady, 12-14 mph on flats; Green/Moderate, 14-16 mph on flats; & Blue/Brisk,, 16-18 on flats) each Sunday.
These are part of the club’s Free Daily Rides program and are open to anyone. Join us for one, or two rides, or be a real trooper and ride all five. You decide what works for you. We will try to have two or three ride leaders per pace so it is very important that you RSVP on MEETUP at least two days prior to each ride. This will allow us to secure additional ride leaders if a large number of riders wish to ride at a particular pace.
These rides are not supported. We will provide short rest stops along the route, but please come prepared with your own food and beverages. Please email the Ride Director with any questions/concerns.
TODAY'S RIDE: We will start at Magnuson Park and head north then east to Woodinville where we’ll encounter the first big climb of the day starting at about mile 12. Following a rest stop in Maltby, we’ll ride through Snohomish and Monroe on familiar country roads. We’ll stop in Sultan for a lunch break where there are several delis and convenience stores where you can buy food and drinks. We’ll return via Ben Howard Road and High Bridge Road with lots of rolling hills and make one more stop in Maltby before making our way back through Woodinville. From there we’ll get on the Burke Gilman trail for an easy ride back to Magnuson.
TODAY'S REST STOPS: Maltby Park @ 19 miles, Sultan (Lunch) @ 43 miles, Maltby Park @ 64 miles)
PARKING: Riders should park in Magnuson W6 parking lot or off 62nd Ave NE or somewhere near the Cascade office and ride over to meet in front of the Cascade office for the ride start 20 minutes before the ride. This is different than prior year procedures of starting the rides at the Magnuson E5 lot.
