MORE Hills In N Seattle
Event has already happened.
Please join us for a MORE Hills ride! Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening is a weekly ride of about 20 miles with a few hills. It is a perfect way to add a little training for otherwise weekend riders without spending too much time. And it’s a great way to enjoy the long daylight of Pacific Northwest summers! Don’t go to an indoor spinning class! Instead, ride with us!
The start locations will be in North Seattle (Lower Woodland Park, Matthews Beach, View Ridge, etc.). We will ride on urban Seattle/Shoreline streets as well as some trails. Because of unavoidable traffic lights, we will keep a steady pace, but you will make it up with a few hills to climb. We will regroup at top of every hill for a reasonable time, but if you are too fast/slow for the majority, it will become self-paced. It’s nice to bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat as always. Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case.
This week's MORE Hills ride starts at Lower Woodland Park. We will take S Ship Canal Trail to Magnolia. We will enjoy low traffic riding in Discovery Park then admire stunning views of Puget Sound and Downtown before crossing Ballard Locks (on foot). Finally we hit a longish climb back to Woodland Park Zoo before finishing the route. You don't have to be a good hill climber (yet), but please come with the right attitude to tackle them!
There is no scheduled stop en route, but we can stop to refill bottles as necessary. 6pm is a roll out time, so please come early enough to get yourself ready and hear safety briefing/sign a waiver.
Geoge Gosieski is a ride leader candidate and this will be his first mentor ride.
