If you have always wanted to ride STP, but time, life, and distance were getting in the way, then this is your year. Take the journey from Seattle to Portland from your own home. We will take you on a virtual journey along the way and cannot wait to open up this iconic event to folks around the world to participate! The Virtual STP will meet you where you are both in location and ability.  Finish the 200+ mile journey by committing to as little as 10 miles a day or as many as 200 in one day!

July 17 to August 5

  • Create a free account on the online platform to track your miles.
    • Ride as an individual or create teams to challenge friends and family across the globe!
  • Commit to a daily riding goal to reach the 200 miles
    • Ride 200 miles in as few as 1 day or as many as 20 during the event.
      • e.g. Set a 4-day personal challenge. "I will ride 50 miles a day for 4 days in a row to get to 200!"
  • Ride anytime in the 20-day window
  • Log your miles on the challenge and watch a virtual journey unfold
    • You will earn badges as you reach the traditional food stops on route
    • Learn about the history of STP, the region, and Cascade Bicycle Club and Washington Bikes.
    • Participants can log miles on a bike, stationary bike, any human powered rolling device (scooter, roller skates, whatever), and even running miles for their journey to Portland! Commit to riding the same thing everyday or make it a multi-modal journey to Portland.

COVID-19 Guidelines for participating in Virtual STP

  • Know the phase of reopening in your locale. This challenge will be taking place all over the world and everyone's restrictions will be different.
  • Plan your route well in advance and know what's open or closed along your route.
  • Consider doing loops from your home so that your "pit stops" are always safely in the comfort of home.
    • Avoid multiple stops at locations to refuel, rehydrate.
    • Don't take unnecessary risks like attempting a solo, unsupported, 100-mile ride. 3 x 33-mile loops from your home is much safer!
  • Wear a mask if riding with others and follow your local COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines.
  • Remember to Recreate Responsibly.

Did you know the Virtual STP supports our mission to improve lives through bicycling?

Your registration for the Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland raises funds for Cascade Bicycle Club and WA Bikes. Your Virtual STP registration makes Washington a better place for people riding bikes. The STP is a major economic boost to the areas we ride through. Your registration fee not only supports Cascade Bicycle Club in its mission to improve lives through bicycling, but also contributes tens of thousands every year to schools, non-profits, and other community groups who provide services for our food stops and our finish line.

Thanks to our Title Sponsor - Kaiser Permanente

We’re excited to announce Kaiser Permanente as the title sponsor of the 41st Annual Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland! We’re thrilled and grateful to have Kaiser Permanente’s support on the road to Portland.
