For years now, the Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic has been the largest multi-day bicycle event in the Northwest, with 10,000 participants riding from Seattle to Portland in one or two days.

Seattleite Walter Barke fears that this year’s 200-mile Group Health Seattle to Portland Classic may be his last.
“I'm 87 now, and it just takes too much effort at my age to train for back-to-back centuries,” he stated.

Reading Tuesday's news, I noted in an article about the upcoming mayoral race that The Seattle Times referred to Mayor McGinn as "the bike-riding urbanist." This is true, Mayor McGinn does ride a bicycle.
