Come join us for a weekend of riding around beautiful Lake Chelan. This will be a fun way to end the season with some great rides around the lake, through vineyards and orchards, and in the hills above. Multiple paces and route distances will be offered each day ranging from 37 miles with an elevation gain of 2,800 feet to 56 miles with 5,000 feet of climbing and will include SAG support with a scheduled food stop during the rides. These rides will cover much of the route used for the Lake Chelan Century Challenge held in late June, including the signature climb up McNeil Canyon, so use this weekend to test your fitness for one of the most challenging century rides in Washington.

Rides each day will start at Don Morse Park in downtown Chelan. You are not required to ride each day.

The charge per rider for the weekend is for the three day ride support. Accommodations and meals are for riders to organize. We have discounts available for riders who stay at Campbell's Resort -- please call them at 800-553-8225 to make room reservations. Important: You must mention the group block name (Cascade Bicycle Club) or reservation number (637753) when making reservations in order to take advantage of this perk. At this time, guests are not able to reserve online.

Post rides we’ll have the chance to visit a local brewhouse and a winery for group tastings and meals.

See below for suggested accommodations, route descriptions and more details.

What to expect

This tour is a self-guided and self-paced tour. You can go at your own pace and stop and visit all the sites. The routes will be marked with pavement markings and some signs at key intersections. We will have maps and cue sheets available at the start of each day, but it is highly recommended that you download the Ride With GPS App and routes to your smart phone, or other navigation device (Garmin, wahoo, etc.). For route support services call the tour day of event hotline at (206) 841-9665.

Days are likely to be warm and dry, but you should also be prepared for both rain and cooler temperatures in the morning.

Meals are on your own although we’ll have opportunities for group events on Friday and Saturday night.  Snacks and water will be provided at the midpoint of the ride.

Hotels and motels:

Registrants receive instructions to apply a discount on accommodation at Campbell's Resort.

The start point for this tour is approximately 175 miles from Seattle.

Friday | Saturday | Sunday | Full Event

Friday |  Manson Loop

This is a challenging but scenic ride through vineyards and orchards on the north side of Lake Chelan above the town of Manson, with options ranging from 37 to 42 miles. For those interested in more climbing, we will include three major hills including a beautiful ride up to Echo Valley, the local ski hill, for a total elevation gain of 3,800 feet. Optional ice cream/pie stop at Blueberry Hills Farm Restaurant.

Join riders and staff at Vin du Lac Winery at 5 p.m. for some outdoor socializing and a 10% discount.

Saturday |  McNeil Canyon

The highlight of this route is the ascent of McNeil Canyon, a 7-mile climb from the Columbia River rising to 3,100 feet, followed by a ride down the Columbia River for a pie stop at Lone Pine Bakery. Brisk and vigorous paces will cover 56 miles with an elevation gain of 5,100 feet, and steady and moderate groups will cover 40 miles. There will also be a shorter alternative for those who would prefer to avoid McNeil Canyon.

Sunday |  Navarre Coulee

This is a 50-mile loop that includes two significant climbs and a total elevation gain of 2,900 feet. Starting in Chelan, we will ride up Knapp Coulee and then descend down to the Columbia River. The route then climbs back up Navarre Coulee where we will have some spectacular views of Lake Chelan, then down to Lake Chelan State Park for a rest stop. We will then continue up lake as far as the road is paved turning around at Twenty-Five Mile State Park. The route back will follow the lake shore to Chelan. A shorter route of 30 miles is also available.

Concerning the Twenty-Five Mile wildfire currently active (9/20/2021) in the area

The fire is at 50% containment and air quality in the area remains good. We do not expect the fire to impact the tour lite in any significant way.

We're keeping tabs on what this wildfire means for several miles, at the tail end of an out-and-back segment, and of the route on the third day. While the fire has not directly impacted the surface of those roads, we're aware that even after the fire subsides that there may be concerns about landslides. We'll be assessing the last couple miles of the route through Twenty-Five Mile State Park and relying on information from local authorities and reports. We'll let you know if we adjust this small segment of the route as we approach the event day. Rest assured that your safety is of utmost importance and we are monitoring the situation daily.
