This is a history ride to visit and learn facts about various historic and interesting sites around Highline in Tukwila, SeaTac, Burien, and White Center.
We will meet in front of the main entrance to the Tukwila International Blvd light rail station (3651 Southcenter Blvd, Tukwila, WA 98188). Parking can be found at the light rail station. Transit access includes the Link light rail Line 1 and King County Metro Bus Routes 124, 128, RapidRide A, and RapidRide F. Bicycle access is from bike facilities on Southcenter Blvd and S 154th St as part of the Lake to Sound Trail.
Please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
There are a total of 12 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will give some details about the history/geography/etc. for a couple of minutes. We will take restroom & water/snack breaks at Burien Community Center (mile 8) and Sunset Park (mile 17).
The route is mostly on paved roads and trails.
Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 4-5 hours (estimated finish after 2:00 pm).
Click Register Now above if you would like to attend this ride.
Please bring basic tools (extra tubes, patch kit, etc.) as well as water and snacks, as it may be warm that day. Have a back-up plan in case you are unable to finish (friend/family who can pick you up, ORCA card to use public transit).
Cancellations: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride, and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location.
Restrooms: there are restrooms at the start/finish Tukwila International Blvd Station (you have to ask a security guard for a bathroom token), Burien Community Center (mile 8), and Sunset Park (mile 17).
Cue sheet: Route link cue sheets will not be provided. Please print one using the RideWithGPS link below if desired.
E-bikes: This is an e-bike-friendly ride. Please consult the "Can I ride my e-bike on a Free Group Ride?" section on the Cascade Free Group Ride FAQ's link for more information. Be sure to have your battery/power pack fully charged before you arrive for the ride.
