Routes

This is a casual ride from Gas Works Park in Seattle across the 520 Bridge into Bellevue. We’ll explore parts of Medina, Bellevue, and Spring District before returning via the 520 Trail and Burke-Gilman Trail. We’ll check out nice views of the area, new bicycle infrastructure, future light rail stations, and even ride bench swings (this is mandatory!).

What’s on the east side of Lake Washington? And what’s this mythical Spring District? Let’s find out!

We will meet at the east end of the parking lot at Gas Works Park (2101 N Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103). Bicycle access is just off the Burke-Gilman Trail across the street. Parking can be found in the adjacent parking lot. Transit access includes biking from the Link light rail station at UW (2 miles away) or biking from King County Metro Bus routes 32 and 62 each with stops a few blocks away.

Let's meet at the Gas Works Park and please be ready to ride at 9:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will take short breaks at the 520 Bridge Overlook (mile 5.4), Medina Beach Park (mile 6.9), Meydenbauer Bay Park (mile 9.2), Blazing Bagels for coffee/food (mile 10.0), Spring District Park (mile 12.5), and 520 Bridge Overlook (mile 16.6).

Please note: this ride is expected to last around 3-3.5 hours.

Click Register Now above if you would like to attend this ride.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the ride start (i.e. arrive at 8:30). Please bring basic tools (extra tubes, patch kit, etc.) as well as water and snacks, as it may be warm that day. Have a back-up plan in case you are unable to finish (friend/family who can pick you up, ORCA card to use public transit).

Cancellations: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride, and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location.

Restrooms: there are restrooms at Gas Works Park (start/finish), Medina Beach Park (mile 6.9), Meydenbauer Bay Park (mile 9.2), and Blazing Bagels (mile 10.0).

Cue sheet: Route link cue sheets will not be provided. Please print one using the RideWithGPS link below if desired.

E-bikes: This is an e-bike-friendly ride. Please consult the "Can I ride my e-bike on a Free Group Ride?" section on the Cascade Free Group Rides FAQ's link for more information. Be sure to have your battery/power pack fully charged before you arrive for the ride.
