This TREATS ride will start at 9:00 am instead of the usual 10 am so we can catch the 9:30 am Fauntleroy - Southworth ferry.  Park in the north end of Lincoln Park at 9:00 am and ride down to the Ferry Terminal by 9:15 am where you can purchase a ferry ticket.

Round Trip Fare:  Adult under 65: $6.75;  Adult 65 and over: $3.35;  Bike surcharge: $1.00

Route: After the ferry ride over to Southworth, there is a short section along Puget Sound where we may be able to stop and identify some interesting birds. Then we head inland and ride by Long Lake down through the Olalla Valley back to the Sound.  We take Crescent Valley down to Gig Harbor where we circle around the quaint waterfront to our lunch stop at Kelly's Cafe and Espresso (see link below for menu).  After lunch, we reverse the route back up through Crescent Valley but then take a shorter, more hilly route back to the Ferry Terminal.  We will aim for the 2:20 pm Southworth -Fauntleroy sailing but there is also a 2:45 pm sailing if we get delayed.

Restrooms:  There are no restrooms at Lincoln Park but there are restrooms in the ferry terminal and on the ferry.  Lunch stop (mile 21)

Register: You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red and white [Register Now] button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.

What to bring: A spare tube and tools to fix a flat, your cell phone, money for the ferry ride and lunch.

Cue Sheet: If you would like a map and cue sheet, please print one from the RWGPS link below.  The RWGPS route has a distance of 51.5 miles but this includes the ferry crossing which is 4.8 miles each way.  So the actual biking miles are 42.

Cancelation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!

Comments

As of 16 March, Cascade Bicycle Club and the Rides Committee have decided to suspend Free Group Rides through the end of March and reevaluate the situation surrounding the coronavirus at that time.

Bicycling is still a great way to exercise and boost your immune system during this time of public health advisory. We encourage you to find a way to continue to ride your bike in a responsible and safe way during the upcoming weeks.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these difficult times. We look forward to riding as a group again soon. Stay safe and healthy.
