Join us for a steady, social, and somewhat hilly ride from Wilmot Gateway Park (Woodinville) to Juanita to Redmond returning to Woodinville.  We will meet at the Pergolas in Wilmot Gateway Park where I will be stationed at one of the tables under cover (and I will not be in the Athletic Fields Parking Lot).  Parking is suggested to be by the Athletic Fields across the street from the Park.   There are restrooms and water at the start.

We will head northward on the Sammamish River Trail to Logboom Park for a quick rest stop (mile 5.7) after which we will start the hill climbing.  We'll have an optional rest stop at O.O. Denny Park (mile 10.5) although our planned rest stop is at the Kirkland Marina (mile 16.3).  We will continue southward to pick up the SR 520 trail toward Redmond after which we will have a 25+/- minute coffee/snack stop at the Bella Bottega QFC in Redmond (8867 161st Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052).

There are hills on this ride, but we climb the hills at our own pace and always regroup at the top.   [Note: With the passage of time, the Ride Leader remains extraordinarily slow up hills but usually gets to the top]   I anticipate to this ride to be on the low end of Steady.  Faster riders are welcome, but if they wish to ride off the front of the group, their ride becomes self-paced.

Riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. We will regroup after climbs and at major intersections.  New riders are welcome - please see the Cascade Bicycle Club web page for new riders as noted below.

Please arrive in time to be ready for the Safety & Route Briefing at 9:50 am with our plan to start the ride at 10:00 a.m sharp.

Online Registration - Please register for the ride by clicking the red "Register Now" button above using the Register Tab.  If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to unregister.   You are also welcome to sign-in at the start as needed as I will have a waiver sheet.

Route – Download the ridewithgps file or print the cue sheet.

Weather:  Showers Cancel - The ride leader will not be at the ride start should the weather forecast indication that conditions meet that definition or worse (rain, snow, ice, fog, wind, etc.).  Ride cancellation will be announced in the Comments Section at least two (2) hours prior to the ride start.

Mentoring is available. Please contact me if you are interested and do know the route.

Comments

Folks:  If we do get some snow tonight (particularly near Kirkland), I will be looking at some possible re-routing to avoid hills (and downhills in particular which sit in heavily shaded areas).  The most likely route change would be go north on Waynita Way NE from the old Wayne Golf course rather than go up and down Juanita Hill as planned...Holmes Point Road in particular is an area to potentially avoid.  No need to risk having a season affecting issue!  If we do get the forecast minor snow event, I would make the route change via the ridewithgps url by 0800 when the go/no-go for the ride is decided and announce it then. The rest of the route is in much less shade.  If the snowfall is significantly more than forecast, we would have to consider the wisdom of riding this route at the planned time.

We may be well matched!
