This week the TREATS ride heads southeast from Renton. Behind the Renton Community Center, the Cedar River Trail starts and gradually climbs (2-3%) up to picturesque riverside Dorre Don. Then we cross over the Cedar River on an old Rail Road bridge and ride on hard-packed gravel for 0.4 miles. The lunch stop is at my favorite sandwich shop called S'wiched. Check the link below for the S'wiched menu. After lunch, we have another trail section of packed gravel (0.2 miles) then we cruise through forest neighborhoods over to Covington. At Lake Meridian, we enter the Soos Creek Trailhead and ride through natural wetlands for 5 miles back to Renton. There is a short pitch up a 10% grade for 100 yards but we will wait for the entire group at the top. Water and indoor restrooms are in the Community Center at the start.
What to bring: Supplies and tools to fix a flat, cell phone in case you cannot finish, water bottle, pocket snacks and money for lunch.
Start: Arrive in time to prepare your bike, use the restroom and be ready to hear route review and the SMART safety briefing at 9:50 am as we will depart at 10:00 am.
Restrooms: Start, Lunch at S'wiched (mile 17.2), Lake Meridian (mile 28), Soos Creek Trail (mile 33)
Cancellation: In the event of showers or unsafe conditions, the ride leader will not be at the start but will post a cancellation notice in the Comments section below by 8:00 am on the day of the ride. It is always wise to check the Comments before you drive to the start of a ride. Rain during the ride could modify the route.
Register: Preregister online by selecting the red and white [Register Now] button at the top of this posting. If your plans change you do not need to unregister. You may also sign the Cascade waiver at the ride start.
Cue sheet: Print your own map/cue sheet if you would like one from the RWGPS link below.

expected finish time
Hi, what time would you expect to finish this ride?
Expected finish time
There are several variables that affect the finish time. The number of riders, number of rest stops, mechanical issues, lingering at lunch and, the speed of the group. That all being said, when I led this route on December 6th, we had 9 riders and arrived back at the Renton Community Center about 2:30 pm. I have found that you can usually estimate the total time of a TREATS ride (posted at 12-14 mph) by using 10 mph plus 30 minutes for lunch.
High probability of Ride Cancelation tomorrow
I will wait until 8:00 to make the official call but with the amount of rain we have had, there is standing water on the road in several places along the route and I do not enjoy getting drenched by a wall of water from passing vehicles. I have received permission from the TREATS director to post this same route on Feb 18
I'm assuming you will cancel Al
I need to test the reproofing on my jacket so I'll do my little training ride round Alki instead and look forward to Feb 18.

Ride Canceled
Even though there is a window of opportunity to ride before the rain returns at 1:00 pm, there is still standing water on part of the route. The same route has been posted on Feb 18
