We'll loop north from Monroe to Lake Roesiger, then to Machias and Snohomish. Rolling rural countryside, easy on the eye and not brutal on the legs.
RideWithGPS map and cue sheet at the Link, below. If you want a cue sheet, please print and bring it.
Restrooms and water at the start, and at Machias/Mile 31. No lunch stop, so carry something to eat at pauses along the way. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan for rescue should you have a serious mechanical failure. If roads are wet, bare tires are a safety issue so come with real fenders and a long mudflap in back.
It can be a long way to Monroe, so please plan your trip. Directions: Go south on Lewis Street/State Route 203 from the center of Monroe. Just before the Skykomish River Bridge, turn left into the long parking area for Al Borlin Park. Don't park north of there under the trees near the bathrooms in the slots for Lewis Street Park--we'll leave those for families using the play structure.
Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page. Then put a checkmark in the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save. By doing this you will save time at the ride start. If you are unable to attend you do not need to "un-register."
The listed phone will not be answered on the morning of the ride. If weather conditions meet the Showers Cancel criteria on ride day, I will post a ride-cancelled notice in Comments, below, two hours prior and not go to the start. Ice or snow also cancel. Please check here before leaving for Monroe.

Fair warning
As of 8:30 on Thursday morning, the Monroe forecast for 9 AM on Friday is cloudy, 38*/Feels like 35*, 25% chance of precipitation, and humidity 93%. This after a rainy night with showers ending between 7 AM and 8 AM. At Lake Roesiger, the 11 AM forecast is cloudy, 38*/Feels like 36*, 25% chance of precip, and 87% humidity. As with Monroe, it will have rained all night at Lake Roesiger.
Of course, this could change in several ways, but the outlook is no sunlight, temps under 40*, and wet roads along the route. With residual moisture from the overnight rain added to high humidity and low temperatures, icing is possible. And, as much as I'd love to get out and do this route again, that means I won't ride.
So I will watch things across today and this evening, with intent to decide by 7 AM tomorrow whether to go. Stay tuned for further developments.
Ride cancelled--snow, wet roads, cold
Snowing at Monroe and Lake Roesiger now (0640). Will most likely stop at or before ride time, but the low temperatures and shaded wet roads are more than I want to experience. It'll be pretty out there, but that's not enough. Not testing my luck on this route today. Regrets.
