Mountain Biking Fun on Earth Day (Steady-Effort Level)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Please join me for a fun mountain bike ride at Duthie Hill Bike Park on Earth Day, where we’ll ride on some of the coolest mountain biking trails in the area. We’ll leave from the parking lot and ride to the entrance of the Bike Park. Once we arrive in the clearing we’ll explore several trails of various lengths and skill levels. We'll ride some of these for a second time or a bit more to make the minimum of 10 miles; more than 10 miles is great as well.
All riders are welcome; however, please take note that we will be riding in dirt over various terrain and obstacles; this ride is a steady-effort level, and we will re-group at the end of each trail ridden and major intersections so that no one gets lost. The trails are designed for the rider who is comfortable with various terrain and obstacles and riding independently. We stress safe and cooperative riding. A good quality mountain bike that is in good condition with at least a front suspension (referred to as hardtail) is required; a mountain bike with front and back suspension (referred to as full suspension) is better. Please bring enough food and water (hydration pack or two water bottles) to be energized for this ride, since there are no services or water sources on the route or nearby. Also, knee/shin guards are highly recommended and are not required for this mountain bike ride.
Riders should bring a spare tube, tools and the know-how to fix a flat. Please arrive at the start by 8:45 am for the safety briefing so we can roll promptly at 9:00 am. Portable potty is located by the parking lot; also, there is one by the entrance of the bike park.
The ride leader will not be at the ride start should inclement weather meets the definition for cancellation (showers also apply to inclement weather conditions); in addition, unsafe trail and windy conditions will cancel the ride. Ride cancellation will be announced in the Comments Section below at least two (2) hours prior to the ride start. If you have questions about the weather and/or trail conditions, please call 818-590-8167, preferably before you leave for the ride.
