It is time for another spectacular ride! Meet in Ashford, ride to Packwood via Skate Creek Rd, then up the highway to Ohanapecosh where we climb Stevens Canyon to Paradise. After taking in the scenery, glaciers and mountain vistas, we will refuel at the Paradise Camp Deli before decending to Longmire and back to Ashford. It should be an epic day in the saddle.
This is a big mountain! It is your responsibility to be prepared. We climb to 5400'. Conditions can change quickly, so please be ready for weather, mechanical issues, and tepmerature changes due to elevation. There is food/water available at a couple locations along the route, at Packwood and at Paradise. Keep in mind there are 40 miles and 4400' between these stops. There is a $10 entry fee for the park. No cue sheets are provided; use the GPS link below.
I am leading this as a strenuous paced ride. However, if turnout permits I would like to have a vigorous group strike out too. Please pre-register so we can recruit the appropriate ride leader(s). Riders significantly faster or slower than the pace should feel free to strike out on their own. Riders who may be lodging near Packwood for the HPC are more than welcome to join mid route around mile 25.
