9th Annual Cycle the WAVE Bike Ride -Sunday Sept 18, 2016
More then 1,000 participants stand together to bring a WAVE of change and take a stand against domestic violence.
WHAT: The Women Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) Foundation’s “Cycle the WAVE” is a celebratory and empowering non-competitive ride for women of all ages. The event brings together riders from communities all over Washington to raise awareness and funds for victims of domestic violence. It’s the largest all- woman organized bicycle ride in Washington State. We have been a proud partner of Shebikes Cascade since its inception and look forward t another great ride experience for all this September. Cascade Bicycle Club members & supporters can get $10 off the event by using code "CASCADE" when registering!
Participants can choose from several fun and challenging routes that include an option for all types/levels of cyclists, plus new for 2016, an added Walk event:
• “Little Sister” 11 mile route - A great route for anyone who can ride a bike
• “Girly Girl” 30 mile route - Our signature ride around Lake Sammamish
• “Middle Sister” 45 mile new route - The “Kick it up a notch” option!
• “Burly Girl” 71 mile new route - Includes 3800 feet of climbing for the seasoned cyclist
• “Walk the WAVE” NEW 5.8km walk, reduced registration fee includes fun rest stop!
Registration is now open-the first 1,000 registered riders and walkers will receive a special dri-fit CtW T-shirt and signature water bottle. Along the route riders will enjoy many special “WAVE” features, including festive themed rest stops, signature flowers for your helmet, and local cheerleading squads offering up encouragement. some surprises too! All riders and supporters are invited to participate in the finish line festival that features gourmet food from local restaurants and a spa stop offering massage and pampering to all. New this year, the event will feature a family friendly “Walk the WAVE” for those who want to participate in the event on two legs rather than two wheels!
Established in 2011, The WAVE Foundation focuses on education and awareness and raising funds for the domestic violence agencies doing the important work across Washington State. They have raised over $1 MILLION dollars to support agencies that provide services to families and youth affected by domestic violence. TWF is now offering direct school based educational awareness programing that teaches youth empowerment and confidence in regards to healthy relationships.
Cycle the WAVE aims to end domestic violence and break the cycle of abuse by focusing our efforts on increasing awareness and educating our youth about this important issue.
