Come cycle the friendly island! A few years ago, Bicycling Magazine called Lopez the best ride in Washington. What took them so long? This ride has it all - beautiful views, beaches, deer, sea lions, and maybe the occasional orca. If you've been on one of my Lopez rides, there will be some new sights this year like Iceberg Point. Sadly, we'll have to leave out some old favorites like Spencer Spit but we'll keep others including Shark Reef and the Center church. This will be more than just a ride, rather an exploration of Lopez Island which will include several short hikes.

Bring money for lunch and the ferry and a lock for your bike. Also wear or bring shoes that you can walk in for a half mile or so. The mileage seems low for a full day but you'll know you've done some riding at the end of the day. We'll catch the 9:35 ferry from Anacortes. Meet at Mariner Park & Ride, 13102 4th Ave W, Everett, WA at 7:30 AM if you want to carpool or join us at the ferry terminal.

This ride is a mentoring opportunity for ride leader candidates who have completed the ride leader training class. Please contact the ride leader at least 48 hours in advance of the ride. The ride leader will not be at the ride start should weather meet the definition for cancellation (showers). Ride cancellation will be announced in the Comments Section below at least two (2) hours prior to the ride start and the ride leader will monitor the phone and email listed.

Comments

we will be returning on the 6:15 ferry

Don't buy your ticket until I see you at Mariner P&R or the ferry terminal - I have two for one coupons. Also, call me for location of free parking near the terminal. The weather is not looking great but will probably beokay. Check here for updates in the morning.
