Missing Link Alignment Open House + Happy Hour
When:
Thu. Jun 18, 2015 6:00pm to 10:00pm
If you care about fixing the Missing Link, this is a "must attend" event. Be there.
The Burke-Gilman Trail is the crown-jewel of our regional trail system for people walking, running, biking and pushing strollers. We've been fighting for more than two decades to complete the Burke-Gilman Trail through Ballard, and over that time period hundreds of people have crashed on the trail's "Missing Link." The city had the designs & funding to go build the trail years ago, but local oil and mining corporations stalled out the project through litigation. Now SDOT is finally proceeding with an environmental impact study (EIS) to move the project forward.
On Thursday, June 18, SDOT will present various alignment options that it will study in the EIS in an attempt to decide their "preferred alternative" of the route.
We need to make sure that SDOT picks a route that closely matches the original intended route of the trail alongside the historic rail line. It's the flattest route with the least number of conflicts with driveways, intersections and vehicle traffic --- which will make the route comfortable and safe for people of all ages and abilities, whether they're walking, running, biking or pushing a stroller.

Following the open house, at 8pm Cascade Bicycle Club will hold it's monthly Bike Happy Hour at Peddler Brewing Company. Attend both the open house (6-8pm) & happy hour (8-10pm).
