Maintenance Party: Education Program Basics of Bicycling fleets
When:
Tue. Aug 25, 2015 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Each year, over 15,000 students from four school districts participate in Cascade's Basics of Bicycling program. They learn basic basic traffic and safety concepts, and hone skills that are components of a healthy, active and environmentally-friendly lifestyle. Some students even learn to ride for the first time!
Join Cascade staff and other volunteers this summer in maintaining over 250 20" BMX bikes so that we can keep kids riding and learning in 2015-16. Some of the tasks that we’ll undertake will be: rebuilding coaster brake hubs; greasing bottom bracket threads and bearings; replacing grips, pedals and seats; and fixing flat tires. You don’t need extensive bike maintenance experience to contribute - even pumping up tires is extremely helpful!
