~~Beaverton, Banks & Beyond Bicycle Tour - August 15, 2015. NW Bicycle Safety Council http://www.nwbicyclesafetycouncil.org/ This is a very popular summer event featuring 100, 86, 64 and 32 mile routes, including the town of Vernonia and Stub Stewart State Park. This scenic, moderately challenging loop explores beautiful farmlands as you wind through country roads and work your way toward the paved Banks-Vernonia State Trail, which is rider-friendly to both road and mountain bikes.  Registration is now open.  More information is available on our website.  Proceeds from this event benefit NW Bicycle Safety Council a 501(C)3 non-profit educational outreach organization.

~~The Beaverton Banks and Beyond long and short route maps are distributed on the morning of the event as part of the sign-in process.  You will receive your ID bracelet, map, special instructions, at that time.

The first 10 mile or so is flat and graduates to about a 2% grade.  If you ride all the way to Vernonia, you will experience a 2 to 5% grade.  The 100 mile route is only moderately difficult but very beautiful.  Should you change your mind about the 100, you can choose to shorten your ride from 100 miles to 64 or 86 miles.

The route is known for being clearly marked outbound and inbound.  In addition, we have SAG vehicles throughout the day and four bicycle teams of two each serving as course marshals along the trail.  The L.L. Stub Stewart State Park Rangers will have a presence on the state trail. There will also be a bicycle repair shop at the Banks Trailhead and at Stub Stewart State Park Hill Top snack and rest area as well.  I know you will really like the ride.  We appreciate your support for this 7th annual fundraising event.
