A social, scenic ride from Mount Vernon across the Skagit Flats to view some tulip fields (predicted to bloom a bit early again this year) before the daily crowds build, then on to Anacortes for lunch (mile 26) at the Gere A Deli. This is a lovely ride using part of the Tommy Thompson trail and will include a loop around March point for eagle spotting. Great views of Fidalgo Bay. Although this ride is a bit of a drive (approx 1 hour from Lynnwood area) this gorgeous rural loop will make your drive worthwhile.
Directions: Start location is Edgewater Park on the Skagit River, near downtown Mount Vernon. Take I-5 north, exit Kincaid Street in Mount Vernon (exit 226), take left off the exit then follow signs thru downtown for highway 536 (this will be basically a right on S. Third then bearing left onto Division to cross the Skagit River bridge). As soon as you cross the bridge take the next left on Ball Street which will dead end at the park. Restrooms available at start.
Please arrive and have you and your bike ready by 9:50 so the group can have a briefing and roll promptly at 10am.
Bring water and snacks. Bring money to purchase lunch. Cue sheets are online for you to print.
Weather Cancellation: Steady rain will cancel and rain or showers during the ride may amend the route. If I need to cancel the ride I will post a message in the comments section of this posting by 7am on the day of the ride and will not be at the start. Be sure to check this before you make the drive! You may call or text me at the number provided.
Pre-register: If you have a Cascade account (you don't need to be a member to have an account) you may preregister online by selecting the Register button at the top. If you are unable to make the ride you do not need to unregister. I will be driving up to the area on Monday the 28th so I will print the registrations Monday morning the 28th before I go. After that time riders may register at the start.

update on tulip bloom
This years tulip bloom is later than previous years so our tulip ride may not include any tulips. Daffodils are blooming. We will still have a beautiful ride to Anacortes and on the way back, if anyone wants to pay to go into either tulip town or rozengarde display gardens let me know and I can drop you off there. You will only be a couple miles from the cars at that point so can take your time and return when you like. Bike lock highly recommended if you want to go into the display gardens.
Carpooling?
I am interested in carpooling to this ride if anyone has a spot for an extra rider and bike - I live in Capitol Hill and will meet you at your place, just let me know what time you are planning on leaving. Feel free to call at: 503-449-2464. Thanks! Trish
