Fall is a time for winding up the busy Summer season!  This is a great time for doing some more relaxed and social rides - and as typical of many cycling ride, a mid ride coffee stop is planned.  This week's ride rides starts along the Snoqualmie River, parallels the Skykomish River and the associated rural farming parts of our county.   A largely flat route with some pitchy hills just to add some variation!  With the leaves changing colors, this route may have a few "Kodak moments" (this for those who can still remember Kodachrome...).   The start location is at High Bridge (Washington Department Fish & Wildlife - http://wdfw.wa.gov/lands/water_access/30541/ )  A Discover Pass or a Fish & Wildlife Parking Pass are needed to park in their lot.

Route map at the link.  Cue sheet PDF as the attachment below.  If you want a cue sheet, please print and bring it along.

No formal food stop, but we'll take an approx 15-20 min stop at the Sultan Bakery.  Facilities may not be available right at the start.   We'll try to find a place to make a quick stop in the first part of our route if needed.

Please register for the ride clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save.  By doing this you will save time at the ride start.  If you are unable to attend you do not need to "un-register."

If weather conditions meet the Showers Cancel criteria on the morning of the ride, I will not go to the start.  I will post a ride-cancelled notice in Comments, below, by 10:00 AM.  Please check here before leaving for the High Bridge start location.

Folks

The Washington Dept of Fish & Wildlife has removed all the restroom facilities from the start point at the Fishing Access at High Bridge ( http://wdfw.wa.gov/lands/water_access/30541/ )   The first rest stop will be about 4 miles into the ride where we will take a short detour to cross the Lewis Street Bridge to the Restrooms in the Lewis Street Park (https://goo.gl/maps/QNYm3FYtoLS2  -  http://monroewa.gov/facilities/facility/details/Lewis-Street-Park-9)

Parking at the Fishing Access is pretty good if you have a Discover Pass.  There is very limited road side parking close by to the start.   To accomodate those who desire it, I will be at the Lewis Street Park (see above) prior to the ride and plan to ride to the start to meet other riders starting from High Bridge.   If you wish to park at the Lewis Street Park area (free and lots of space), plan to be there in time to depart with me at 11:20 am.   We'll cycle back to the High Bridge area, pick up any more riders, and head out to the Sultan Bakery.    On the return trip  you will have the option to turn right off of Ben Howard Road while we turn left - that will take you back to the Lewis Street Park in a very short distance.   You are also welcome to ride back to the start and then return to Lewis Street Park which adds 8 very flat miles to the advertised route distance.

I also saw a LOT of leaves coming down today (Monday 24 Oct) on the road, so we will need to exercise good riding judgment on the ride as many more leaves may be down on the road by Wednesday.

The ride today is canceled - based on current and projected rain into east County, there will be rain pretty much all day.  We'll regroup and try this again at another time!

Alan, Thanks for posting, but I was also wary of the weather. Would love to do it another time!!
