Join us for a ride starting from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on an approximate 45 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph)! This is a route starting on the Eastside which merges a moderate amount of hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes, and largely quiet neighborhood streets for most of the route.
Now that we are in our Pacific Northwest Winter, it's time to enjoy some local rides while staying in riding shape as Chilly Hilly and other 2022 rides are not far away! This week we will venture from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville to the Sammamish Plateau. We will have a very short rest stop at approximately mile 15.6 at Ebright Park after our climb up Louis Thompson Road SE. After our riding around Beaver Lake and its "erratic" glacial boulders (and maybe see some deer!), we will have an approximate 25 minute coffee/snack/water/restroom stop at a coffee shop at approximate mile 28.4.
Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the tables under the Pergolas in the park at 10:00am, ready to ride, for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a planned departure right after completion of the Safety Briefing. Please note that you must be present for the safety briefing at 10:00am, else you won't be able to ride with us.
We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and our goal will be to regroup at the top of hill climbs. Faster riders are welcome but for them the ride becomes self-paced. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. Please bring funds appropriate for your needs if you wish to purchase coffee or snacks at our coffee stop.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us! (And, of course, Happy Boxing Day!)

Just a heads up on possible icy road conditions
Folks - Just an early FYI. While this is a fun route, it isn't a particularly great one for a group ride if we experience the forecasted icy road conditions. I am hoping that the projected very cold freezing temperatures won't materialize on our ride day, but, if they do occur, I will likely need to do a weather cancelation.
Ride Cancelled
The forecast, but unwanted, cold air has arrived creating freezing conditions and potentially icy surfaces on our route for Sunday. The ride this week is cancelled - we'll be watching to see if the icy conditions will be gone by next Sunday. Stay warm and safe - the indoor riding might be a good thing to consider doing this week.
