Join us for a ride from the northeast corner of the park and ride for a 29.1-mile route with 2,602 feet of climbing at a Moderate pace (14-16 mph on the flats.)

This is the second route in a informal series intended to help riders -- and Ride Leaders -- get into shape before the beginning of the CHEW series in early January. The ride goes over to the north Edmonds area and then climbs several notable hills in the Picnic Point/Mukilteo area before returning to the start. There are striking views of Puget Sound at various points along the route.

Please, note that this is a hill training exercise. The route involves an average of almost 100 feet of climbing per mile and much of that is packed into concentrated areas. If you didn't do Warm-up #1 with us on Dec. 12, it is advisable to click on the route link below and study the areas involved and the elevation profile of the ride before registering.

Please be at the start and ready to ride at 9:55 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally.

Restrooms are not available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms at Lynndale Park at 7.3 miles. Drinking water is not available at the start or Lynndale Park, so have enough water/hydration mix at the start.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

Comments

Co-leader Scott Kaczmarek will be mentoring ride leader candidate Nigel Townsend on this ride. They will lead the first 17 miles and sweep the rest. Mike Upsall will sweep the first part and lead the second.
