Join us for a ride from Gas Works Park on a 43 mile route at Moderate 14-16MPH!
Jacquie and I are taking the day off to enjoy this break in the weather. We will be leading on our tandem. The route starts from Gas Works Park and goes through Interlaken Park and the Arboretum on the way to Lake Washington. We cross onto Mercer Island and circumnavigate in a counterclockwise direction. We will stop for a short break at the community center for restrooms and a quick snack then ride west to downtown Seattle. We will head to Magnolia through Centennial Park and enjoy the splendid views from the bluff. The ride finishes along the Ship Canal Trail, nice and flat after all the hills.
Let's meet at Gas Work Park and please be ready to ride at 10:00. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 23 Mercer Island Community and Event Center.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
