Join us for a ride starting from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on a 42 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph on the flats)! This is a route starting on the Eastside which merges hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes, and largely quiet neighborhood streets for most of the route.

Now that we are into our Pacific Northwest Fall season, it's a great time to take advantage of the generally cooler weather and extend your riding season! This week we will ride over to Seattle for coffee in the Madison Park community. We will have a very short rest stop on our way out at approximately mile 9.3 at the Kirkland Marina Park and a 25 minute coffee stop at approximately mile 21.2. A downloadable ride map and cue sheet for GPS navigation devices is at the Link, below.

Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the tables under the Pergolas in the park at 10:00am, ready to ride, for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a planned departure right after completion of the Safety Briefing. Please note that you must: a) register for the ride using the red "Register Now" button shown above; and b) be present for the safety briefing at 10:00am, else you won't be able to ride with us.

We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace. Faster riders are welcome but for them the ride becomes self-paced. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. Please bring funds appropriate for your needs if you wish to purchase coffee or snacks at our coffee stop.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!

Comments

Just FYI - I have been closely watching the weather forecast (The Weather Channel) to see what kind of weather window we may have on Sunday morning.   Current Sunday riding condition projections as of now are for about 90% chance of rain during the ride. However, these future prognostications can turn out to quite different from the conditions on the ground.  All in all, if correct however, those would be suitable criteria for not riding 40+ miles under those conditions.  I will evaluate early in the morning and plan to let everyone know the ride status before 8am so people can plan their day better.  The route this week is a fun one and I will likely just post it for next Sunday if we do have to defer (ie, cancel) the ride this week.

Ride is canceled as significant and extended rain appears to be occurring during most of our planned ride today.  I will repost this ride for next week as it is a fun route!  (And it can't rain two weeks in a row can it?)

Ride is canceled as extended and significant rains are expected during most of our planned ride. Stay safe and we’ll hopefully see you next week (same route and time).
