Join us for a ride from Leschi Starbucks on a 30 mile (50km) route at steady pace (12-14 mph/19-23 kph)!
Just to get out of the pre-pandemic THUMPS ride lock on Thursdays, your ride leader has now started BOSS rides to enable more day of the week flexibility.
Fixies and single speeds are always welcome and encouraged. Your ride leader will be riding a single speed if his leggies are not too tired and the planned route is single-speed appropriate.
Meet at Leschi Starbucks for a steady-paced ride, always about 30 miles (50 km). We will keep moving except for occasional rest room breaks (where available), no coffee, no meals. You will be home in time for lunch. Plan on having enough fluids and nutrition for the entire ride. The ride will always include some hills, typically 1000-3000 feet (300-900 meters) of climbing, so you'll have a good workout. The object of these rides is to have fun riding and to do some urban exploration. This means we'll be on streets (sometimes busy) and bike paths when available. A Ride With GPS link will be posted 1-2 days prior to the ride so that you can see the exact route planned and download to your device should you want to do so.
Let's meet at the Leschi Starbucks for a required safety briefing at 9:30AM and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
There are restrooms at the Starbucks where we start, but some routes may not have any others. Bring any tools and spare parts you think that you'll need for on the road repairs, just in case. Your leader is mechanically impaired and will not help with any needed repairs. Besides, the club's COVID protocols forbid it. It's always good to have your Orca card or have the Uber or Lyft app on your phone in case you need to take the bus or train or ride share home, or just want to do so!
Note: Please, no calls after 8AM on the day of the ride. If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section of the ride description at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader will not be at the start location.
Come on out and maybe get to see some new places!
