Join us for a ride around Redmond at Steady pace (12-14mph).
In this edition of the Ride Around Redmond series, we will ride through the Sammamish Plateau along the East of Lake Sammamish and the scenic Beaver Lake. We will meet towards the middle of the Lake Sammamish Trail parking lot (directly across the trail from Whole Foods).
Please be ready to ride at 9:00am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that is done. If you miss the briefing, you will NOT be able to ride with the group.
While we do not have any water at the start of the ride, we do have a portable rest room.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at the top of each hill.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note that Google Maps routing to the parking lot is a bit confused by the construction. The simplest route is to turn onto NE 70th St (by the Brown Bear Car Wash), then turn left just after the trail crossing.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
Hope to see you!

Lunch stop?
Mahesh, Will we be stopping for lunch?
Chris
Hello Chris
Hello Chris
I have not planned a lunch stop at any restaurant. This is mainly due to the added complexity around mask/ face coverings mandated in a restaurant, including indoor and outdoor dining. However, we will be stopping for a short break at Beaver Lake park, where we can refill our water bottles or have snacks/ bars. Trust this clarifies. Do let me know if you need any further clarifications.
Mahesh
Drinks Break
Sorry missed to mention. The stop will be at about 15 miles from the start. So mid way through the ride.
Thanks
Mahesh
Should we be using fenders if raining or wet roads?
so as nit to coat our fellow cyclists and bikes in road grime?
Fenders
Hello Ken
Thanks for bringing this up. As mentioned in the ride description, fenders are required when the roads are wet, which should be the case tomorrow. Without fenders, the riders will be asked to ride at the very last to prevent other riders from getting sprayed with dirt.
Thanks
Mahesh
Rolling tomorrow?
Hello Mahesh, looking forward to the ride. Weather looks sketchy. What are odds we'll roll do you think?
Definitely Rolling Tomorrow
Dear Friends
I know tomorrow's forecast looks like a typical seattle weather - WET. Either way, tomorrow's ride is definitely on. I have carried out the recee of the route (in bike and car) and I did not notice anything that should hamper our safety. We will be stopping at Pine Lake park at about mile 18 for a water/ rest room break, with an option of stopping 2 miles earlier at Beaver lake park as well. I did check the water fountain and the rest rooms. Both are operational at Pine Lake. Weather permitting, we will have a group photo at the Pine lake water front!!!
Looking forward to see you all tomorrow
Mahesh
Fenders
Just to reiterate, fenders are a requirement for tomorrow's ride. Can I ride with no fenders? Absolutely! Just that you will be riding at the very back :)
