Join us for a ride from Log Boom Park on a 67 mile route at Brisk Pace 16-18 MPH. This enjoyable scenic country ride with views of the beautiful West Snoqualmie River Valley, Skykomish River, Mount Index and on a clear day an impressive view of Mount Rainier. This route provides great conditioning and is a favorite of participants, with its mix of flats and hills. We ride on the Burke-Gilman trail and good roads, through Woodinville, Monroe and Sultan and return on an alternate route. See the attached photos on the link below.
Parking: Park on the shoulder of 175th (plenty of space available) not in the parking lot which is closed.
Meet: In Log Boom Park on the sidewalk between the parking lot and the bathrooms. I wear a silver helmet and a Ride Leader jersey, with a black bike. Please be ready to ride after the safety briefing. We will start with the required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Supplies: You will need to bring at least one full sized water bottle, which we can refill with Ice water at the Sultan Bakery. Bring a snack to eat while riding.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and regroup at the top of hills, and stay together on level ground. We ride at a Brisk pace of 16-18 MPH. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH). You are responsible for navigating yourself on the route. Therefore down load the attached link of the route onto your bike computer, or your smart phone. Or print a cue sheet. If you fail to maintain the brisk pace you will be expected to ride on your own.
Log Boom Park is closed for remodeling. Therefore we will meet on the path located off the SE corner of the parking lot at Log Boom Park. There are portable chemical toilets located adjacent to the Burke Gillman Trail and the Log Boom Park parking lot driveway, but there is no running water so plan accordingly.
We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at 23 Miles at Lewis Street Park. Our snack and bathroom stop will be at the Sultan Bakery at mile 33, where we will dine in the outdoor seating area. On our return route, in case of urgent need, there could be an emergency bathroom stop at about 43 miles or later at about 50 miles.
Bring a spare tube and tools and be prepared to fix your own flat tire. If you have a mechanical problem we will check on you but if lengthy repairs are needed we will not wait for you. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
