Join us for a ride from the Woodinville Sports Fields parking lot on a 23.9 mile route at Steady pace (12-14 MPH)!
This week we have one big hill in Redmond - English Hill - before we descend back into Woodinville! This is the most challenging ride of the set we've been doing all year, and the hill is at the end of the ride, so we will take it easy while we make our way to the climb. Note that we're starting in Woodinville to avoid the potential for running into huge soccer crowds at 60 Acres Park.
Let's meet at the Woodinville Sports Fields parking lot and please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently
Restrooms and water are available at the start (across the street at Wilmot Gateway Park), but we won't ride past them, so come a little early to make your way over there if you need to fill your water bottles or use the restroom. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 14.4, at Farrel-McWhirter Park in Redmond.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
Ride leader mentoring is available for this ride. If you are interested, please contact shaun@ivory.org.

Air Quality
Due to wildfire smoke, today's air quality index on the Eastside hovered between 100 and 150 (and is currently 156).
This is considered unhealthy for sensitive people. I rode my bicycle, but I wore an N95 mask, which probably helps.
I checked a couple websites, and they are forecasting slightly better conditions tomorrow. For example, AirNow.gov is predicting an AQI of 74:
https://www.airnow.gov/?city=Woodinville&state=WA&country=USA
Therefore, I am going to remain hopeful, and I won't be canceling the ride tonight.
If it's above 150 in the morning, I will cancel the ride by 8:00 AM, but otherwise I will be at the start.
Important: Nobody should feel pressured to ride - we all have to make the choice for ourselves.
