Join us for a ride starting from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on a circa 30 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph)! This is an eastside route merging moderate hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes, and largely quiet neighborhood streets for most of the route.
Now that our Pacific Northwest Summer has finally arrived (as opposed to the Saharan summer experience we had earlier!), it's time to start (or continue) your summer recreational riding! This week we will continue with some new hills on our route to help justify that pastry or bagel you may want at our coffee/snack/water/restroom stop at Redmond Town Center. Leaving from Wilmot Gateway Park, we'll head westwardly toward Wayne Golf Course and 96th Ave NE/Waynita Way where we will head southward toward Market Hill and then into the Kirkland Marina Park for a quick rest stop at mile 9.5 (and a view of the Seattle skyline across Lake Washington). Continuing south on Lake Washington Blvd, we will connect with the SR520 bike trail and climb up Rose Hill followed by a fun descent into Redmond Town center for coffee/snacks/restrooms at Redmond Town Center (mile 19.9). After our 25 minute stop, we will head back northward and climb up just the edge of Education Hill before returning to the valley floor and ending up at our starting location (mile 30.3).
Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the Pergolas in the park at 0930 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a planned departure right after completion of the Safety Briefing. Please note that you must be a) pre-registered for this ride via the Cascade Bicycle Club website; and, 2) you must be present for the safety briefing at 0930, else you won't be able to ride with us.
We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and our goal will be to regroup frequently - this is a social ride after all! Faster riders are welcome but for them the ride becomes self-paced. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We’ll stop for coffee/snacks/restrooms/water at multiple shops in Redmond Town Center at mile 19.9. (Please bring funds appropriate for your needs if you wish to purchase coffee or snack sounds )
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!

FYI on Parking Question
I received a question from a rider about parking: “I’ll need to drive to the ride start tomorrow morning, so I’m checking on parking availability at Wilmot Gateway Park. I assume there will be available parking spots but with potential soccer games, might I need to look elsewhere? If so, suggestions?”
Answer: Thanks for asking! While there is usually very limited parking directly by the Park, parking by the Athletic Fields across the street has been pretty accessible to date. In addition, there is often street parking a couple of blocks east of the Woodinville Police Dept buildings which are adjacent to the Athletic Field parking lot. You may want to factor in a few extra minutes for this parking step if you are not familiar with the location.
