Make up of COOS Ride #12 which was canceled due to hot weather. We can't let the summer end without riding it.
For ride #12: We will ride towards Ravensdale, onto Cumberland and then stop for a slice of pie from the Pie Goddess in Enumclaw. After that, we will drop back into the Auburn valley and cruise back to Sumner.
Possible stops: Restrooms at the start, mile 9, 21.7, 28.4, 32, 42.1, 57.2, 73.9,and 78.1. Water will be at all of the stops except for mile 21.7.
Let's meet at the Fred Meyer parking lot, east end. Please be ready to ride at 7:45am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. We will regroup after climbs and as needed.
Be considerate and have full fenders including mud flaps if roads are wet or a prediction of rain is in the forecast. If you don't have fenders, you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
A route map and cue sheet are on the RideWithGPS link, below. If you want a cue sheet please print and bring it. The ride leader will not have extra copies.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
