Mentored ride for David Bell !
Please join us for a beautiful route! We'll travel along the water, loop around in Dupont. cross lake Steilacoom and head back via South Tacoma and Tacoma's North End. (route linked below - download or print a cue sheet if desired).

We'll meet at Narrows Park and Ride on 6th Ave (at Skyline/Oxford - adjacent to War Memorial Park) at 8:30am and start riding at 9am, after introductions and brief safety talk.
Pace is moderate - expecting riders to be able to sustain a speed of 14 to 16 mile per hour on flat, windless terrain for about four hours. We will take hills at our own paces and regroup after hills / before turns if we get spread out. Paces tend to vary with climbs and descents. Faster riders are welcome to go ahead and the group will wait for slower riders, within reason. Please send a message or post a comment if you are unsure if this is a good ride for you or if you have any other questions. If you are new to Cascade Free Group rides, please click on "Read our newcomer information" at the top.
No public washrooms at start, but some businesses in the area may let you use their washroom. We can stop at the trail at Chamber's Bay Golf Course at mile 4.7 for the public washroom there if needed. Planned rest stop is International House of Donuts in Lakewood at mile 27. Optional additional brief stops: Starbucks in Dupont at mile 15, Campfire Coffee at Mile 36, Metropolitan Market on Proctor at mile 40.
Helmets are required. Other things to bring: ID, cash and/or credit card, a charged cell phone, supplies to fix a flat or other minor mechanical, water and a small snack. Lights on your bike are recommended but not required if you have reflectors. Out of consideration for others, please have full fenders if roads are wet - you may be asked to ride at the back if you do not have fenders.
Weather Cancellations: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel at least two hours prior to the start and will not be at the start location.

approximate finish time
Hi, I just found out that a friend is coming in from out of town and I need to be in Seattle by 4:30pm. Do you have an estimate on when we'll complete the ride? Thanks.
approximate finish time
We've got a lot of people registered - a bigger group generally means we will cover ground a little slower and it depends a bit on which of those optional stops we stop at and how long we stay.at stops That said, we should be done around 2-ish. Can you download the route/take a cue sheet? Are you familiar enough with the area/ comfortable riding by yourself that you can leave the group and get back on your own if it seems like continuing with the group will make you late?
Hi Marlene, I always download
Hi Marlene, I always download the cue sheet but don't have GPS on my phone other than Google maps and Waze. I'm not familiar with the area at all. I'm coming from Kirkland and it takes slightly less than an hour to get to the departure/finish point. A finish time of 2-ish would work because it puts me back at home at 3-ish which is plenty of time to get ready to be in Seattle by 4:30pm. That being said, I'll think about it and make the decision on whether or not to join the ride by tomorrow. If I decided not to join I'll cancel my reservation.
Thanks for the prompt response. Richard
