Join us for a ride from the Fauntleroy Ferry Dock on a 29.6 mile route at a steady pace (12-14 mph).
Of all the islands in Puget Sound, Vashon is the most accessible from Seattle's urban buzz. A teen on horseback, a random deer peering from the undergrowth, herons near the shoreline -- we may experience these as we take advantage of fine summer weather to tour this rural island. Our route is principally a loop. We proceed down the west side of the island, then take a lollypop spin out on the Burton Peninsula (we take a short, distanced lunch break there, at Jensen Point Park), and eventually head north on the mid-island road through Vashon Center and eventually back down to the ferry dock. Bring a sandwich or snack, or purchase food at the Burton General Store just before the lunch stop on the peninsula. We may also stop for coffee/snacks at Vashon Coffee Roasterie (mile 25).
Let's meet at the Fauntleroy Ferry Dock at 9:00, which will give us time to purchase tickets and be prepared to board for the 9:30 ferry departure. We'll do the safety talk while waiting for vehicular traffic to clear, after disembarking on the island.
We will climb and descend hills our own pace, and our plan will be to regroup frequently.
Restrooms are available at the start, and on the ferry. Restrooms and water are available at the lunch stop at Jensen Point Park (mile 18).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!

I hope you soon expand to 15
I hope you soon expand to 15 or no limit participants. We would like to join this ride but it is disappointingly full at 10.
Expansion of Ride Participants
Deanna:
I am going to leave it at 10. However, I have decided to lead the Vashon ride again later in the summer. Please look for it on the Cascade site. It should be posted in the next few days. I hope you will be able to participate then.
