Join us for a ride from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on a 25+ mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph)!  This is a fairly flat route except when we are climbing the two major hills using bike trails, bike lanes, and largely quiet neighborhood streets for most of the route.

Now that our Pacific Northwest Summer has finally arrived (as opposed to the Saharan summer experience we had earlier!), it's time to start (or continue) your summer recreational riding! This week we will add a second hill to our route to help justify that pastry or bagel you may want at our coffee/snack/water/restroom stop at Blazing Bagels (Redmond).  Leaving from Wilmot Gateway Park, we'll head south towards 124th where we will leave the trail to start our climb up Education Hill.  There are many routes up this hill but we have chosen one of the more "gentle" routes.  After climbing through multiple quiet neighborhood streets, we will have a swooping descent down Education Hill into Redmond/Marymoor where we will have our coffee/snack stop at Blazing Bagels (mile 12.1).  The ride will continue by heading northward where we will climb English/Hollywood Hill for our return to Wilmot Gateway Park.   If you want to skip the second hill and leave the official ride, it is only a flat 9 mile return to our starting spot via the Sammamish River Trail.

Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the Pergolas in the park at 0915 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a planned departure at 0930.  Please note that you must be a) pre-registered for this ride via the Cascade Bicycle Club website; and, 2) you must be present for the safety briefing at 0915, else you won't be able to ride with us.

We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and our goal will be to regroup frequently - this is a social ride after all!  Faster riders are welcome but for them the ride becomes self-paced.   We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. We’ll stop for coffee/snacks/restrooms/water at Blazing Bagels at mile 12.1. (Please bring funds appropriate for your needs if you wish to purchase coffee or snacks - I have heard their bagels are really good)

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!

Comments

Route looks solid for Sunday morning.  I made a couple of tweaks based on road surfaces and added in a brief visit on our return to an Alpaca farm!

James - sure, the job is yours!  Having a sweep helped last week. Since we have two solid hills this week, your assistance will be appreciated!
